Keeping up with Jones’?

Not so long ago whilst all my friends were buying family homes, nice cars and going on luxury holidays, I remember returning a pair of £30 shoes because I couldn’t really afford them, let alone my rent.

My friends and family were applauding what I was doing (a PhD in diabetic research), thinking I was Einstein when the reality was that I was analysing pee for less than minimum wage and was pretty miserable.

This year I’m opening offices in Glasgow City Centre and building a team at Russell Regulatory Consultants. I have never been more proud of myself- the small wins, big wins and even the lessons learnt.

Nobody has seen the sacrifices I’ve had to make to get to this stage.

Being supportive of others success will not take away from your own. Don’t compare yourself to others- stay focussed on your goals.
